This clarinet pair are made of beautiful dark wood and according to a web search: "the Edgware clarinet is an iconic Clarinet was made during the golden era of British clarinet manufacturing that was sought the world over. Sadly, these will never be seen again. Made from the finest African Blackwood." This clarinet pair would suit an intermediate moving from a plastic to a wooden clarinet or someone who plays in orchestras and needs both a Bb and an A clarinet. The mouth pieces are the original B & H ones, if upgraded the sound quality will improve.
The A clarinet plays beautifully and has a very mellow sound. All corks and pads are intact. The Bb clarinet needs a new pad on the G# key as it currently leaks. As it leaks the clarinet doesn’t play, however to test the sound and the other pads I put a piece of Rizla in to seal it and all other pads and cork seals are fine. Due to its age, it would benefit from a service, though the clarinet would be ready for use after the one pad is replaced, and again the sound is good.
The pair come in a double brown imitation leather case with red velvet inside. There is a fold down flap to fit paper music and an area for extras. Included are some cork grease (not new I am afraid), a duster and a clean wipe through with weight on the end for cleaning. It also has an outer shower proof case (removable) with a zip pocket for some thin books.
The Bb clarinet was valued by T W Howarth & Co in London in 2003 as worth £400, and hasn’t been touched since then. The A clarinet is of a similar value but I have lost the valuation slip. The clarinet is located in Bookham, Surrey so can be picked up/viewed or couriered to a UK address at cost. Any questions feel free to ask.
